A crown pre-trial (also known as a CPT) is a meeting between the Crown attorney and your defence lawyer. During the CPT the main factor discussed is the position the Crown would be seeking if the client were to plead guilty. A CPT is usually held in the beginning of the process; however, at Paul Lewandowski Criminal Law many informal CPTs are held throughout the process. Additional considerations may include the Crown election (indictable vs. summary), the length of time required for trial, narrowing of issues at trial, and personal circumstances of the client (with a view to negotiating a just resolution).
